Ready to learn celestial or upgrade your skills? Our Celestial Navigation Seminar is the perfect event for you! Sponsored by The Nav Station (youtube.com/@thenavstation) our experienced instructors will offer practical instruction and some advanced tips.
This intensive, classroom style program runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Topics include celestial navigation theory, sight reduction for the Sun, stars, planets, and Moon, the Noon Sight, sextant use and care, sight plotting, and the Celestial Running Fix. Weather permitting, participants will also have the opportunity to take practice sights outdoors. This seminar assumes a working knowledge of basic navigation concepts such as plotting a course, compass correction, chart work, etc.
Your instructors are experienced ocean sailors and celestial navigators. Between them they have more than 30 Bermuda races under their belt (plus many other offshore races and passages), and have won the Navigator Trophy in the Celestial Class of the Marion Bermuda Race 3 times. We will bring a practical approach to celestial, while making sure that the larger theoretical aspects are also covered.
