The Marion Bermuda Race (“MBR”), one of offshore sailing’s most cherished traditions, will celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2027. Since its inaugural start in 1977, this 645-nautical mile ocean race has embodied the spirit of Corinthian sailing, camaraderie, and adventure, attracting generations of sailors from New England and beyond.

Since its inception, the Marion Bermuda Race has encouraged the use of Celestial Navigation. The race is currently the only ocean race still offering a Celestial class, which typically comprises about 20-25% of the fleet.

The MBR Notice of Race states: "A boat electing to race using celestial navigation must make that choice by June 9, 2027 and shall meet the conditions in Attachment A. These boats will sail with other boats with similar ratings and will have her elapsed time reduced by 3%".
