Andrew Howe
Andrew Howe first learned celestial in the Coast Guard 50 years ago. He has sailed more than 35,000 offshore miles, navigating almost all of them using celestial when offshore. He taught navigation with the Ocean Navigator School of Seamanship for a dozen years, both in classrooms and aboard their sail training schooner Ocean Star. He has navigated 13 Bermuda Races (3 Newport Bermuda and 11 Marion Bermuda, using celestial for all Marion Races), several other ocean races, and has made several deliveries in the Atlantic and Caribbean. In 2015 and 2025 he won the Navigators Trophy in the Marion Bermuda Race. He is a member of the Cruising Club of America and the Centerboard Yacht Club (Maine). When he is not racing or teaching he cruises his Sabre 362 on the coast of Maine, or skis the trails of New England and Colorado.

Ted von Rosenvinge
Theodore (Ted) von Rosenvinge, P.E. grew up sailing in Gloucester, MA and has completed 19 Bermuda Races (Newport Bermuda and Marion Bermuda) with 12 as navigator, two Marblehead to Halifax races and the 2019 TransAtlantic Race. He used celestial for the 2023 Marion to Bermuda race and won the Navigator’s Trophy. He is a member of Cruising Club of America, Pequot Yacht Club (Connecticut) and Annisquam Yacht Club (Massachusetts).
